REWARD OFFERED !

Do some quick research on this scientist to win a reward in class on Tuesday.
He was a German-American rocket scientist, engineer, space architect, and one of the leading figures in the development of rocket technology in Germany and the United States during and after World War II. A one-time member of the Nazi party and a commissioned SS officer, he would later be regarded as the preeminent rocket engineer of the 20th century in his role with the United States civilian space agency NASA.
According to one NASA source, he is "without doubt, the greatest rocket scientist in history. His crowning achievement ... was to lead the development of the Saturn V booster rocket that helped land the first men on the Moon in July 1969."
This scientist developed the idea of a Space Camp that would train children in fields of science and space technologies as well as help their mental development much the same way sports camps aim at improving physical development.
To get your reward you must do the following by class on Tuesday:
  • Name the scientist
  • Provide the name of the missile that he worked on for the Germans in WWII
  • Name the Alabama city where he worked
  • Tell where you got your information

OPTICS - Make a Water Lens at Home

  • Take an old newspaper or magazine no-one wants anymore.
  • Lay a small piece of cellophane, cling film, or clear plastic on top of the newspaper.
  • Using a spoon, or even the top of your finger, place a single small drop of water on the cling film.
  • Look at the newsprint and you should be able to see that the water drop (which has a curved upper edge and a flat lower edge) magnifies the words.
  • Well done, you just made a lens
