- Take an old newspaper or magazine no-one wants anymore.
- Lay a small piece of cellophane, cling film, or clear plastic on top of the newspaper.
- Using a spoon, or even the top of your finger, place a single small drop of water on the cling film.
- Look at the newsprint and you should be able to see that the water drop (which has a curved upper edge and a flat lower edge) magnifies the words.
- Well done, you just made a lens
